Would you believe garlic is a member of the lily family. And is native of central Asia and is known to be a dried root. It’s use dates back more than 5000 years ago. Garlic was fed to the workers who built the Great Pyramid at Giza. In addition, Greek athletes dined on garlic to build their strength. In the United States, it was first grown in New Orleans by French settlers and then the missionaries brought it to California where it is grown today. It has been recorded in ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, Japan, India, Russia and Europe that garlic has been used for thousands of years. Garlic is known as the penicillin in Russia, is is used to treat ear infections, cholera and typhus. Also, in the two World wars it was used as a disinfectant.

What are the health benefits of garlic?

Garlic strengthens the immune system, that helps to prevent colds, flu and other infectious disease, wards off heart disease by reducing high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol, helps fight off infections: is a good digestive aid: helps alleviates gas, but is also an anti-inflammatory herb as well. Which is great for your cardiovascular system. Garlic also can slow the growth of tumors.

You will hear now and again the myth that one can ward off evilspirits by wearing garlic around one’s neck or hanging it in windows, be rest assured that it is more useful when consumed. Fresh garlic bulbs are preferred. So the next time you visit your local market, pick up two or three cloves and keep it on hand. It is rejected by many because of the pungent odor, try roasting a garlic bulb and you will find it will have a sweet and savory taste.

When cooking I season my dishes with Watkins garlic granules and it gives my dishes just the right flavor.

The sign on the wall next to the entrance read “Fragrance Feel Zone.” It caught my attention and right away it brought back my own unpleasant experience.

Every morning, I would board a shuttle bus to transport me from our off site parking area to my job at a local hospital. As soon as the doors would close the overwhelming fragrance from the person sitting behind you or in front of you would literary take your breathe away.

Now, if the powers to be could have deem that bus an “fragrance free zone” it would have made my day. I must not be the only one that has a problem with strong fragrances, and it started me thinking on how I can keep from offending the people around me.

One solution I found was I started using Fragrance Free Detergent . It is a start and I will keep looking for ways to help create a Fragrance Free Zone for the people around me.
